Well, trying to count her babies was a difficult process. Needed to do it so I could remove the dead. She had five babies that I found so far, two of the larger ones were dead, but all the afterbirth was removed. Two of the dead ones were chinchilla colored, and of the remaining three, one is white.
This is her and my first litter, so it is normal for a higher mortality rate. She was also moved to a new home, and had issues eating and adjusting. Handling and improper diet can really mess with pregnant animals.
They were all buried nicely in the fur pile. With full tummies. Here’s to hoping her next litters are bigger, and better taken care of after birth.
