This is a page dedicated to my K-12 Outreach and Extension Activities. This site is a repository for videos I create, links to activities and lesson plans directed toward the K-12 audience.
In July of 2013, I was selected to present a workshop at the STEM Think Tank and Conference at Harpeth Hall. The workshop is called Soil Science Creative Expression: It isn’t just STEM, Making Connections Through Art and Culture: This workshop is intended for 15 participants. The goal is teaching about soils, and how it relates to culture through hands on arts and crafts.
My primary K-12 outreach is through the Girl Scouts of the North Carolina Coastal Pines, and the Soil Science Society of America. For the Girl Scouts, I primarily develop and run environmental outreach programs. I write content and edit the Soil Science Society Teaching Resource, including their powerpoint Teachers Guide for the Scoop! book.
I have also done several short workshops for elementary students and middle schools in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, and North Carolina.
