Spotty germination…

Well, in the lower portion of my plots, there is a distinct accumulation of moisture…. Since it has been so dry, this has really helped the germination rates in this area.  The upper part of the field, however, looks pretty abysmal.

I am going to hand plant some transplants and take moisture samples tomorrow. I have a feeling we are dealing with some weird hydraulic gradient, and differing bulk density.

I also am installing PRS probes so we can monitor initial nutrition levels in the soil.

I hope we can use this for teaching purposes, even if the plots don’t turn out well.
