Cost of Constructing Quail Cages

The bookshelf was free, so I built the cages to fit into the shelves for support.

I bought 1/2″ x 1″ x 30″ welded wire for cage floors.

$16.97 for a 10 foot roll, I used four feet for four cages = $6.80

For the sides, I used 1 x 1″ x 24″ welded wire for the cage sides.

$13.97 for a 15 foot roll, I used 14.3′ = $13.32

Then I used an edge protector for the door area, so I don’t get cut, which is another $1.40.

This is a total of $21.52 for four cages.

I like my rolling cage design. When eggs are laid, they roll into the catch tray, so they are out of the way of the birds.

They will have breeding trios/quads.
