Like most people, I am constantly trying to find ways to better organize my super chaotic lifestyle. It was super frustrating to leave for work in the morning:
1. Not knowing where my shoes were
2. Having to search 20 minutes for my keys
3. Finding where I left my backpack, coat, super awesome hobo gloves (courtesy of Sam), scarf…
and, well, you get the picture.
I also really like to build things. Give me some circular saw, and a drill, and I get a cathartic healing experience from any kind of stress that is ailing me in the life of a PhD student, dog trainer, etc.
So, I crafted a solution, an entryway closet.

This multi-function cabinet was designed to keep me organized (haha, not happening). It is 6 feet tall, and nearly 3 feet wide.
So far, so good. It fits the coat, backpack, and all of the shoes I own (like, four pairs… but I digress). It is also an amazing place to hang poop bags, and my dogs leashes and harnesses.
It is made out of 3/4″ plywood, and is 6′ tall by 28″ wide, and 18″ deep. It is green, with white 1 x 2″ trim on the front (I love wood glue).
It can easily store six pairs of shoes, side by side, and more in the back.
That being said, I still don’t know where my keys are… 😛 I guess some things never change.
