I thought I was going to lose Cocoa last night. She had five babies, things went badly. Four still had their amniotic sacs attached, and she was oozing blood for several hours after birth. I had to remove the last portion of afterbirth, because she couldn’t get it out. I dissolved some honey in water and hand fed it into her mouth. She wouldn’t eat, or even move. The baby that survived is tiny (smallest one I have ever seen). I thought that it was going to die, as it wasn’t moving. But as of this morning, they are both doing fine.
I am so glad, as cocoa is the first female guinea pig I raised.
