Well, I woke up Saturaday morning, and all of my breeding female quails in growout were missing. All that was left was feathers, and a single wing. Whatever ate them pulled them through the side of the cage. Sadly, the quail cages were all packed, so I was using rabbit cages, which aren’t raccoon/rat proof. Sunday morning, one of the males from the growout pen had been pulled through the cage as well. I can’t remedy the situation right now, because moving is in 9 days. So, I processed the poor quail. They are small, but perfect for a dog or cat. So much for transitioning breeding stock.
Anyways, as promised, here are some baby guinea pig photos! I am not going to sex these guys until they are 3 weeks old.. which falls perfectly during the move. We won’t have an outbuilding to protect the boys, but I do have a cage ready for indoors.
